"You know, we should of just had you do the voice-over instead of the guy we hired!!!...."

After hearing this comment on an almost daily basis,  veteran composer, musician, and producer Chris Corso figured he should take a hint.

Born and raised in New York, Chris has had a diverse career in the entertainment business.

As performer, he toured the United States, Europe, and Asia as keyboardist/vocalist with The Dave Mason Band (formerly of Traffic).  Along the years he also played with notable artists John Denver, The Temptations, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Mitch Ryder, The Drifters, The Coasters, The Marvelettes, Phoebe Snow, Peggy March, Kim Hill, and many more.

As composer,  Chris is a featured performer/writer with the Sony artist group  (and New Age/Smooth jazz favorite) Palomino Duck.  He’s done several releases of solo piano and smooth jazz.  Founder of the Atlanta Music Deli (Formerly Visual Music) Corso has written music and done voice overs for documentaries, television, film scores and corporate multi-media presentations.

Chris told us how he entered Voice-overs almost by default:

"Many clients I did music for asked if I did voice-overs.  I was flattered, but hesitant.   With phenomenal artists like Harlan Hogan, who is to voice as Charlie Parker is to saxophone, I didn’t think I had anything to add.    In fact,  I actually brazenly called Harlan on his cell  - he had just done the VO for a Pfizer video I had written music for.  I asked if he gave lessons LOL.  He was very encouraging, and generous with advice, and gave the name of a local coach here in Atlanta..

.

Though I've spent much of my life as a composer/musician,  I’ve always loved the VO side of the industry.   I had been around that world since my early days as an assistant engineer in NY/NJ …doing  tons of commercials with legends like the late great George Michael when he was at WABC (Thank you, Bob Both).

I guess somewhere along the line, those cumulative styles and technique entered my consciousness.   I was getting a priceless up-close education on how to read copy from some of the very best;  I just didn’t know it at the time!

In order to provide professional and competitive broadcast quality content,  today’s media market often requires many components (engineer, VO artist, music provider, producer, etc.).    But all those separate entities don't usually happen at a reasonable cost for the average buyer.    I had those skills, along with the technology;  plus I truly enjoy doing them - so figured I could offer a turn-key cost effective post-production house.  Being the opportunist I am, I dove in head first.".
